Ok too much meat. I'm the guy on the right in black. Counter-clockwise from me:-
Mr. Evan Cremer, or Lobster as we usually call him due to his tendancy to sunburn, works with me at Kelton. Smart man, cheeky guy.
Mr. Glenn Aranzamendez, who taught me invaluable lessons when I had my own workshop just beside his. Always has heaps of ideas to get around a technical problem.
Mr. Van Phu Tran, or Fur as I usually call him for no apparent reason, a medical student who used to work with me at Karatan. He now owns all the moulds I used to have.
Mr. Chuck Some Bong, or Graeme (his real name), is my flatmate who is rarely home :) Top bloke and is the best flatmate I've ever had (excluding my wife). |

My formal training in IDES was at UNSW where I graduated in 2003. That's the best uni I've been to. Over the next 2 years I attended Wollongong Uni and Macquarie for an IT degree but somehow or another the environment at UNSW was still the best. And I still miss it.
In the daytime I'm an industrial designer/draftsman/IT geek at a major signage manufacturer in Sydney. Contrary to what signage is perceived to be, I don't do much graphic design at all. In fact most of my time is spent pondering over how a graphical visual proposal becomes a three-dimensioned reality.
In the evenings I try to write up blogs and read design / engineering books without neglecting my lovely wife :) Yeah it's important to keep up with industry, but it's even more important to keep up with the missus!

It's Monday and I've just had a heck of a day. It wasn't too bad I reckon except that I had stuffed up this website by deleting the public_html folder completely :(. Fortunately for me, Crazy Domains was kind enough to reset my entire website to the pristine condition it was when I first got it. Wasn't too hard to get it to its current state with a template and my logo which I designed over the weekend.
I love this template. Dark and well, not exactly moody. I figured that since I will be writing most of my blogs in the evenings after dark, this would be a suitable theme.
The one reason this website was concocted is because I've always wanted to keep a design journal but never had the chance to. Since technology has gone this far, I'll make my journals online. Call them blogs if you wish but journals sound a bit nicer. I also set up a forum so that we can all get together and b**ch about stuff :) Designes ought to share and critique ideas - that's how we improve, isn't it??
Welcome to this website, designer and non-designers alike! Please visit the forum at theindustrialdesigner.com/forum where I hope we can all share ideas and perhaps make a few friends along the way. |
