Well that's really the first idea I had for these kids. Carrying that much water on the head can't be good for their necks! Also it must be quite uncomfortable to do that all the time. So I figued if we roto-moulded a few of these water back-packs and cut a hole on the top, we'll be doing them a big favour. BUT I don't really know what it's like to be living in those conditions. Some questions I ask myself - if you're able to answer : -

• Where do they get their containers from?
• Where does the water come from? (stream, river, well)
• How far do they need to transport the water?
• Who's the youngest? On TV I have seen a 3 yr old kid carrying water with the rest of the family.

In my first design I was hoping for an integrated "strap" which will allow more surface area on the shoulders rather than straps, which may bite into their skin.

But after a week of pondering... this is my second design.
